Phishing is a particular type of online scam aimed at stealing personal data (usually user codes and passwords) in order to unlawfully access bank accounts or other services.
Most phishing attempts are made through scam e-mails, advertisements or sites that appear similar in graphic style and content to communications from major companies. The user, in order to correct any errors or verify problematic situations on his account reported in the communication, is redirected to a site that is a fictitious copy but apparently similar to the official site. Sharing personal data on such sites allows the fraudster to use this information for fraudulent purposes.
Most e-mail providers offer the possibility of setting up junk mail filters (so-called spam filters), which detect 'incriminating' e-mails and move them to a special folder.
If you receive an e-mail that refers to a phishing site, it is important not to select the link but report the communication directly to the Postal Police, providing the message header.
If, by mistake, you have already provided your personal data, you should file a complaint and contact the bank or the administrator of the original site directly to warn them of the incident.
Obviously you will need to change your password immediately.
We also recommend that you report phishing cases to your employees and colleagues, so that they are prepared and do not fall victim to this scam.
