Identify installed software
Note: the list of installed software varies from PC to PC, depending on the programmes installed during the life of your device.
WINDOWS
Access the control panel by pressing the 'start' button and typing 'control panel' or 'control panel', then open the first result;
Press "Programs and Features" or "Programs";
Display the list of installed software.
MAC OSX
Select the Apple menu, select the "About this Mac" item;
Click the "System Report" button;
In the left-hand section of the list, select "Installations" to display a list of the various programs installed, the date of their installation and their source on the right.
Define best practices for the correct use of software
Follow and implement the following general rules for the correct use of software:
Do not authorise the use of computers owned by staff or third parties in the company;
Do not authorise the possession on your premises of digital media containing copies of copyrighted products, unless explicitly and directly exempted by the software manager;
Computer equipment must always be formally assigned to employees;
Always have an up-to-date inventory of owned computer equipment, delivery records and a list of products authorised and installed on computers;
Packaging, licence documents, storage media must be carefully guarded.
Why always keep the software installed on your devices up to date with the latest version.
The code that makes up your operating system and other applications in general may contain bugs, errors, incompatibilities or obsolete components. Like any product you purchase, software may not be perfect. Security updates (or 'security patches') fix vulnerabilities and errors in the operating system and other software, and in some cases even add functionality. This is why it is essential to keep your Windows/OSX operating system regularly updated.
Keep all software up-to-date
Chrome
Updates generally run in the background when you close and reopen the browser on your computer. However, if you haven't closed the browser in a while, you may notice a pending update:
Open Chrome on your computer;
In the top right-hand corner, notice the "More" icon
If an update is pending, the icon will be coloured:
Green: an update was made available less than 2 days ago;
Orange: an update was made available approximately 4 days ago;
Red: an update was made available at least one week ago.
To update Google Chrome:
Open Chrome on your computer;
Click on "More" in the top right hand corner
Click on 'Update Google Chrome';
Important: if you do not find this button, it means that you have already installed the latest version;
Click "Restart".
Zoom
Start the application on your PC;
Log in to your account (if you haven't already done so) and click on the thumbnail of your account photo or the initial of your name (if you haven't set up any photos), located in the top right corner of the main programme window;
In the menu that opens, then select 'Check for updates';
If the words "This is the latest version" appear on the screen, you are already using the latest available version of Zoom;
If an update is available for Zoom, click on the "Update" button and wait for the update to be downloaded and installed automatically.
